How I Got Started:

Training jiu jitsu since the age of five has provided Trenton with a community he thrives in. Everything he sets his mind to has to include an element of ‘fun.’  Learning alongside his teammates while having fun is a testament to the atmosphere Carlson Gracie Temecula creates at their academy under the guidance of Professor Tom Cronin, 3rd degree black belt.  As the younger brother, he has walked alongside his big brother Trevor in this journey in life, but has his own story to tell that is unique to him.

Training Journey

He didn’t start competing right away; in fact, it wasn’t until after the COVID pandemic did he step out on the competition scene in 2021.

“My parents were very intentional about the right time to step onto the mat for my first tournament. They wanted me ready mentally and physically. It was the right strategy for me. After a debut year of competitions, I was ready to go all in. It proved to be the right time, I was winning back-to-back tournaments in IBJJF and JJWL, with an undefeated record.”

In 2022, Trenton gained incredible momentum going into his first IBJJF Nationals and winning the title. At the peak of the season, he entered his first Pan Kids tournament with little expectations, he secured an individual gold for his team. Just after two years of competition, he was awarded a yellow belt for his unwavering focus on winning during competition, while having fun.

What’s Next:

After an extraordinary win at the 2024 European Kids Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, Trenton has his eyes set on his next international assignment.
