LUCAS RUBIO

LUCAS RUBIO

Athlete Profile:

How I Got Started:

Lucas began his Jiu Jitsu journey in September 2022 at the age of 7, just by chance. He was initially not very competitive and reserved, something clicked a few months into training. His passion lit up, and so did his drive to compete. Since then, his fire has only grown stronger, fueled by discipline, purpose, and his father’s close mentorship, particularly in mindset training and strength & conditioning.

Training Journey

Despite being relatively new to the scene, Lucas has made waves in the competitive world. A 10 year old medium heavyweight athlete, he trains 2–3 hours daily, combining pressure and dynamic movement with a conceptual understanding of Jiu Jitsu rather than memorizing individual techniques. In 2024, he added wrestling to his arsenal, sharpening his top game and evolving as a grappler.

Lucas has competed internationally, including in England, Italy, and reached podiums in some of the sport’s most prestigious youth competitions as an IBJJF European Champion. Among his proudest moments was medaling at the first ever ADCC Youth Championship inside the T-Mobile Arena; an invite only event for elite competitors. Another standout moment came during the ADCC Las Vegas Open, where Lucas overcame adversity, including a bloody lip and mental hurdles, to submit his opponent in the final seconds of the bronze medal match. It might not have been gold, but it felt like the biggest win yet.

    What’s Next:

Lucas’s immediate goals include claiming his first Pan Kids title and securing a win at the ADCC Trials to earn a spot at the 2026 ADCC Youth Championship. Long-term, he’s chasing a young black belt by age 18 and has his sights set on becoming a world champion.

Off the mat, Lucas is known for his confident, high-energy personality. He enjoys fitness, trampoline parks, dirt bikes, and anything with a thrill. School may not be his favorite, but he applies the same work ethic there and continues to improve.

    Why I Represent Masuta Kimonos:

“Wearing Masuta makes me feel like I belong among the best. As a sponsored athlete, I want to show other kids what’s possible with discipline and belief. Jiu Jitsu isn’t just a sport; it’s a way to grow stronger inside and out.”
